One look at the new cowling of the DF200A is enough to see that this outboard is something special! However, the shape of the cowling is more than just modern styling. The design and special airflow under the cowling work together as a semi-direct intake system that directs cooler air directly into the engine's long-track intake system. The engine breathes even more efficiently thanks to Suzuki's proven variable valve timing and dual intake and exhaust valves per cylinder. The cooler intake air improves both acceleration and top speed. In fact, Suzuki factory tests show a 1.5% improvement in top speed and a whopping 12% improvement in acceleration from 0 to 30 mph compared to competitor models.
Furthermore, the improved compression ratio of 10.3:1 contributes to the increase in performance. By increasing the compression of the fuel-air mixture by 9.7%, Suzuki engineers were able to significantly boost the power output of the DOHC engine with an impressive 2,867 cm³ displacement.
