The history of Mercury is synonymous with legendary innovation. Since 1939, when Carl Kiekhaefer, the father of Mercury outboard motors, built the first outboard motor with forged aluminum pistons, Mercury has set the standard in all aspects of marine design and innovation. Mercury is now setting a new standard with the introduction of the first EFI outboard in the 18.4/22.1 kW (25/30 hp) class, and what's more, for the first time, a battery-free EFI system is being offered for the F25 and F30 hand-start models.
