Clean, quiet, and more comfortable
Since Zeus drives use counter-rotating propellers and are mounted on large rubber grommets, gear noise and vibration are significantly reduced for a quiet and comfortable ride. Exhaust gases are virtually eliminated by venting the emissions through the starter plate, where they are carried far back into the wake by the water flow.

Zeus Pod Propulsion Systems – An Unprecedented Level of Control
- Zeus Pods rotate independently, resulting in much greater turning efficiency and responsiveness.
- Zeus Pods generate horizontal thrust and propel the boat forward, unlike conventional inboard shafts, which push the boat upward.
- The hydrodynamic shape of the Zeus pod creates much less drag than a shaft, strut, and rudder. In addition, rearward-facing propellers are subject to less form drag.
- The counter-rotating propellers in Zeus pods eliminate side forces, minimize cavitation, and enable completely straight tracking.

Safe design
If the Zeus pod drive encounters foreign objects underwater, the rear-facing propellers are protected by the pod gear housing and spur. In addition, Zeus pods are mounted in a tunnel so that the pod's torpedo remains at the same depth as the keel, providing further protection. Most floating objects are directed downward, away from the propeller, by the keel and spur. However, should the unit come into contact with a larger object, the skeg performs a shearing motion under the torpedo, minimizing damage to the pod drive and reducing costly repair bills. By offering a rear-facing pod drive mounted in a tunnel, we deliver significant efficiency improvements without compromising safety.

Zeus Joystick Piloting
Mercury Joystick Piloting gives you complete 360-degree control at your fingertips. With a simple push or twist of the joystick, you can move the boat side to side, diagonally, or even rotate it around a single axis. This makes maneuvering your boat at low speeds or in tight spaces easy, intuitive, and stress-free. Joystick Piloting for Zeus is integrated into the pod drives, making it superior to bow thrusters, which can drain your battery and leave you stranded. The system can even be installed on boats with two rudders, for applications with two, three, or four pods.
